local mompreneur helping make WORK/LIFE BALANCE POSSIBLE FOR DALLAS PARENTS!
I had been working remote for 6 years with two young children when the concept was born. Between all the days off during the school year, and most summer camps not being open to under 5 year olds, being a working mom wasn’t easy.
I would take the kids to indoor play places and find a corner or bench to try to work at. I tried coffee shops, but there was never enough to occupy and contain them. I noticed that the majority of our local indoor play places were not geared toward adults in the slightest. I understood they didn’t want “campers,” but I was only looking for 1-3 hours sometimes… whether it was to have an uninterrupted phone call or needing to get some emails done - I found this simply impossible.
When I was laid off during the Summer of 2023, I started a sustainable kids birthday party business, BYOB, because I am very passionate about giving our kids fun yet sustainable parties. BYOB stands for “Build Your Own Birthday Party” so each party is custom designed with sustainability at the forefront and catered to the available budget.
This is what led me to look into venues to lease. One thing led to another, and my search for a birthday party venue became me designing a unique indoor child play place that caters to both children and adults, especially working parents… something I’d only ever dreamed about and decided to make it happen.
I am extremely passionate about this concept because I want to create a space for local families to have as a safe haven for all the ‘no school’ days during the school year, those long summer breaks, and when you just need a little “me” time knowing the kid(s) are safe and happy.
